OUR LADY OF LOURDES STAINED
CLASS
LOCATION:
Sanctuary Dome, second panel from left
THEME:
This panel shows St. Catherine of Alexandria, patron saint of
philosophers. She is also known as one of the 14 holy helpers,
whose voice was heard by Joan of Arc. She wears the red martyr's
robe, the color of the vestment worn by the priest on all martyr's
feast days. The spiked wheel visible on the left side represents
the instrument of her death. St. Catherine is one of the earliest
martyred (ca. 310) and there is a monastery built in her honor
over 1500 years ago at the base on Mt. Sinai.
INSCRIPTION: Donated by Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Gilday by their children.
